My weekly self-care moment
I recently wrote an article on the importance of self-care and gave tips on how to take care of yourself. Spending at least one day on self-care is crucial for maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It lowers stress and allows you to stop and recharge. Prioritizing at least one day for self-care isn't indulgent—it's essential for leading a balanced, fulfilling life.
Today is my self-care moment of the week.
I started my weekly self-care moment meditating this morning, then had breakfast with my fiancé. After that, I ensured every chore in the apartment was done because I did not want them to wait for me at the end of the day or the next day. It would just cancel all this self-care I made, and we did not want that.
Then I took a warm shower, washed my hair, and put a mask on to nourish it; while it was on, I washed my body, exfoliated it, and shaved. After the shower, I put on butter for my body; I use one that is very rich every time I shave, so it stays on all day; with pants, the cream goes faster, and my skin doesn't feel as protected. I love the Ellovi butter! It has a delicious smell, and you can use it everywhere: face, lips, body, and hands, and it lasts so long!
After I hydrated my body and dressed, I put on my audiobook and washed my face with an oil cleanser. I exfoliated it and my lips, too. I put on a mask that needed no rinsing and let it pose for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, I did my bullet journal—at least tried, because my cats decided to mess with me to make me understand they wanted my attention, so I ended up playing with them. After my mask was done, I took it off and decided to watch my favorite TV show: Blue Bloods.
I then spent the rest of the day doing things I loved without forcing myself. It was random: I would be doing my bujo and listening to an audiobook and then felt like playing Sims4 and then reading, watching TV, scrolling on Instagram and spamming my fiancé with reels, then reading a book, playing with the cats, drinking tea, and so on.
It's a day about doing things for you and only things you want to do; that is why I make sure I take care of my responsibilities before doing them because having them in the back of my mind during this whole day would have ruined it.
So, yes, doing everything you need to before your self-care day is essential, and make sure you tell your close ones: this day is for me; I won't be here for anything. If I come to you, we can talk about anything you want; otherwise—do what you want, and I'll take care of myself.
You deserve this kind of day, and you're not rude for asking your close ones to leave you alone on this day; remind them that you can be there for them; you have to be there for yourself first; there is not one without the other.
And you, what do you do for your self-care moment? feel free to comment what's your routine!
